Most of you are likely familiar with the song, “What a Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong. If not, here it is for you 🙂
I happen to agree with ol’ Louis–it really IS a wonderful world! That notion was the impetus of the creation of this web-site, as described elsewhere.
The Improve Your Life area of this site goes into a lot of detail about mental, spiritual, and physical practices to enhance your life experience. In the good habits section, there are some hobbies mentioned briefly–pets, music, gardening etc…
This part of the web-site will focus on these things in more detail. Of course, these are things that I enjoy and want to share with you. I know my personal tastes and the things I like won’t appeal to everyone–just take what you like and leave the rest! (9/12/18–these pages being added–watch for them :))
Other aspects of our wonderful world are as follows:
Holidays are a lot of fun, and a good reminder to pay attention to certain things. Each holiday has its own gifts. Be sure to check this page out (9/12/18–currently being worked on :))
People do a lot of bad things–yes, that’s true. But people do a lot of wonderful things too! Just like in this story, we tend to see the kind of people we look for in the world:
The Two Travelers and the Farmer
A traveler came upon an old farmer hoeing in his field beside the road. Eager to rest his feet, the wanderer hailed the countryman, who seemed happy enough to straighten his back and talk for a moment.
“What sort of people live in the next town?” asked the stranger.
“What were the people like where you’ve come from?” replied the farmer, answering the question with another question.
“They were a bad lot. Troublemakers all, and lazy too. The most selfish people in the world, and not a one of them to be trusted. I’m happy to be leaving the scoundrels.”
“Is that so?” replied the old farmer. “Well, I’m afraid that you’ll find the same sort in the next town.
Disappointed, the traveler trudged on his way, and the farmer returned to his work.
Some time later another stranger, coming from the same direction, hailed the farmer, and they stopped to talk. “What sort of people live in the next town?” he asked.
“What were the people like where you’ve come from?” replied the farmer once again.
“They were the best people in the world. Hard working, honest, and friendly. I’m sorry to be leaving them.”
“Fear not,” said the farmer. “You’ll find the same sort in the next town.”
The Uplifting stories page will share some cool stories (you can submit your own story to publish here :)). Generally newer stories are listed in “Good News” posts.
Current Events (and light amidst darkness)
This page will discuss big events that occur–things that are tragedies or disasters–and will remind us of the goodness that always seems to appear in such times. It doesn’t lessen the event, but serves as a reminder that “in the midst of darkness, light persists.” (a Gandhi quote).
Honestly, I only add to this when moved to do so–I don’t do it all that often 🙂
