Today marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination. So that means I was five years old when that happened. Weird. I grew up in a pretty tumultuous time–the 60’s.  A lot of things have changed and a lot has stayed the same over the years. Such is life, it seems 🙂  There’s no such thing as “the good old days,” in my opinion. There are good and bad things in all time periods, collectively speaking. And individually, our experience is largely our own to determine.

Back to MLK–I am always amazed by the determination and commitment and bravery that civil rights proponents had/have–especially in the early days (when I was just a child). It’s a bit hard to fathom.  I know when I watch accounts of all they went through, I am always thinking that I’m not sure that I’d have been so brave and selfless. ❤?

There is no shortage of meaningful quotes to mention when talking about Dr King.  One of my favorites is this one:

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

What the world needs now (and always) is love. Choose love.
