Ways to Improve Your Life: Tip 2
Focus on Health and Fitness
You are all familiar with the phrase, “If you have your health, you have everything!” Certainly good health is a great blessing because if you don’t have good health, life is just harder–not necessarily bad–just harder.
Yet we see people every day not attending to their health. They smoke, drink too much alcohol, eat too much…they don’t move around or exercise their bodies… and they complain about their aches and pains.
Our experience of health, good or bad, is related to many factors. I personally believe that our minds and beliefs greatly influence our health. So that is a primary area worth focusing on. And, of course, a healthy lifestyle is worth pursuit also 🙂 Eating a clean diet (most of the time) of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, fish and whole grains is traditional and good advice. Bless whatever food you eat, and know that while traditionally healthy food is best, your body does not depend solely on food for health.
To keep your body strong, get some exercise. The American Heart Association recommends getting at least 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise to maintain your health. If you are overweight, be sure to start gently so as to protect your joints. Focus on cardio to burn fat and strength training to build muscle. There are tons of possibilities! Find a type of exercise you like to do and stick with it. Me, I like walking and body weight exercises 🙂
Don’t use the excuse of not having the time. Everyone can find time to exercise; self-care just needs to be a priority. I like to do lots of little spurts of exercise throughout the day more than long sessions.
Exercising tends to be a mood enhancer. It relieves stress and makes you feel accomplished. It can easily improve your outlook on life and your emotional health as well as increasing your productivity and giving you some clarity on your life purpose.
Which all ties in with the Motivation Monday theme 🙂
